KOLBUS invests in new machining centre for large parts

As a replacement for a 54 year old long milling and planing machine, the modern, powerful CNC bed milling machine is used for multi-sided machining of heavy and complex workpieces. Due to the higher dynamics, processing times are significantly reduced and production can be faster and more efficiently. With this investment, KOLBUS is positioning itself as an innovative partner in the field of contract manufacturing for proven machine and component construction and for customers in other market segments.  The new powerhouse for parts production at KOLBUS is called ›TR-45‹ and comes from Bimatec Soraluce. On this machine, components with a size of 4,860 x 1,200 mm and parts up to 2 m in vertical height can be machined.  The new system is to be operated in three-shift operation after the start-up phase. Thanks to its bed construction and a continuously indexed milling head, complete machining can be carried out in just one clamping, even with heavy components. Spiked with innovative options, such as a sophisticated DAS+® vibration damping system, the ›TR-45‹ promises increased productivity and highest precision.  The new machine not only reduces production costs and increases the quality of the manufactured parts, but also improves the working conditions of employees. The user-friendly machine design offers colleagues a working area with an ergonomic working height, full room encapsulation with work space suction and automatic door control.  On 16 March the new machine was delivered to KOLBUS. The unloading and loading of the 23 t to the final location was carried out by the competent and highly experienced staff of Kolb Autokranes from Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock.  Despite the difficult conditions caused by the Corona virus, the subsequent installation and commissioning at the Rahden site took place within just under four weeks, so that the final commissioning of the plant could take place on 15 April.  Customers are also convinced of our new possibilities: already in the last few months, and thus even before the actual start of the ›TR-45‹, we were able to generate some inquiries, make interesting offers and secure concrete orders.
