New KOLBUS East Hall completed in record time

Exactly 8 months and 27 days after the shareholder’s decision to extend the factory in Rahden this huge project will be declared ›closed‹ and ›heated‹ on Friday, 27.10.06.
KOLBUS employees and retired employees, as well as KOLBUS’ neighbours and the employees from the contracting companies involved in the construction are invited to light refreshments on Friday afternoon.
The KOLBUS GmbH & Co. KG shareholders commend the fast realisation of this huge project, emphasising the excellent and exemplary cooperation of the local authorities and construction firms. »Rahden has proved to be a first-rate site«, Kai Büntemeyer, the managing partner, commented. »This project marks a further milestone towards securing jobs and safeguarding our company’s future. Our medium to long-term objective to boost sales by 50% could lead to the creation of up to 250 new jobs«, Büntemeyer continues.
With this pooling and further strengthening of forces, it is obvious that KOLBUS are committing themselves to the Rahden site and forging close links for the future.
KOLBUS is investing a total of 15 million euros: The new ›East Hall‹ with an area of 7,500 square metres costs 6 million euros. 9 million euros will be invested in the purchase of new machine tools.
Facts of the ›EAST HALL‹ construction site
A total of 11,000 cubic metres of earth and sand was moved and 7,150 t of concrete processed. The hall is supported by 77 pillars, the roof covered with 7,000 square metres of special film. 330 m of roof lights with 2,000 fluorescent lamps have been installed, as well as 3,000 m of IT cables, 17,000 m of electric cables and 3,000 m of pipelines for compressed air, water and gas. 14,700 square metres sheet metal plates are fastened to the façades, roof trapezoid.
