200th KOLBUS casemaker installed with Taiwanese company in March 2010
Despite generally stagnating demand for machinery for the printing and paper sector, there is some good news. KOLBUS shipped its 200th DA 270 casemaker to ›Strong Stationery‹ a customer in Taiwan where the machine will be used to make files and ring binders. At a rate of 65 cases a minute, one-piece boards can be covered in one cycle and then lined in a second cycle. Simple operation, fast make ready and the flexibility that comes with almost effortless format change are well-known characteristics of this KOLBUS machine. The DA 270 – in one-man operation and with ultra-short make-ready times – delivers far better net performance than rival products. This KOLBUS casemaker has built an outstanding reputation in production of hardcover books, eg, photobooks, as well as products for the packaging and advertising sectors. These new, global growth markets are helping to keep sales of the machine at robust levels. Exports account for almost 86% of sales, with the regional focus of demand in Asia and Europe. Around 30% of the customers who bought these machines worldwide are deploying them in new application areas. The Taiwanese company ›Strong Stationery‹ intends to benefit from the productivity and performance of its DA 270 – the ›milestone machine‹ – in its drive to gain new markets in Japan.
