Petersmeier invests in state-of-the-art box making with KOLBUS systems. Proactive thinking has always been a hallmark of the company’s investment strategy. "Our primary business of paperboard packaging, such as all types of telescope and flap top boxes, as well as slide, cassette and hinged lid packaging, is doing well, confirms Kai-Uwe Petersmeier. But the company is not resting on its laurels: “We’re always on the lookout for potential opportunities. Our customers expect us to supply distinctive packaging, something that no one else has. To stay competitive, we have to keep expanding our offering”.
“We’re not alone in registering a general trend to ever smaller production runs with ever shorter order lead times,” says Petersmeier.
To fill premium small orders fast and flexibly in the future, Petersmeier finally decided on a Boxline from KOLBUS. It was delivered in September 2019 and went into operation a month later. The line consists of a grooving machine, a magnet inserter, and a DA 260 casemaker together with modules for placing boxes and flat, pre-cut blanks or magnet cases. Since the line became operational, Petersmeier has already filled many orders.
“I firmly believe this technically innovative investment will pay dividends. One likely application is premium packaging for expensive spirits and liquors, another might be original designs for menu cards." They sum it up at Petersmeier: “We’re growing in a growth industry – backed up by good partners like KOLBUS”.
